University of Louisville students can visit the Office of Admissions website to see which CLEP exams are currently accepted for credit. Students may also contact REACH for information on tutoring sessions.

Registration and Fee Information:

CLEP Examinations will be given through our office as indicated by the schedule below. In order to register, you must download and submit the registration form (PDF) to our office at least ONE WEEK before the requested exam date. Feel free to call our office at 502-852-6606 and have one mailed, or download the entire Information for Candidates brochure from collegeboard.com.

No more than three CLEP exams may be taken on a test date, with the exception of exams with an additional essay portion when only two exams will be permitted. The CLEP exam has limited seating and registration is on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVE basis. You are not guaranteed the primary test date or time that you request.

There are two separate fees to consider when taking a CLEP exam. There is a $20 non-refundable service fee per exam payable to the University of Louisville. For examinees taking the optional essay exams, there is an additional $10 fee for the processing of the optional essays for Freshman College Composition, English Literature, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, and American Literature also payable to the University of Louisville. The University of Louisville fees may be combined and MUST accompany your registration form. If you are unable to attend on your originally scheduled date, you will simply need to resubmit your registration form and fees.

The CLEP fee for each exam is $72 and is collected at the time of the test if paying with credit card. While credit cards are the preferred method of payment, your CLEP fee can also be paid by check or money order provided it is sent in with your registration form. Separate checks must be written for each exam, made payable to "College Level Examination Program". You should indicate how you will be paying the CLEP fee on your registration form.
