CIS 100 Test Out

The CIS 100 test out option is designed for students entering the School of Business who have prior knowledge of microcomputer hardware and software, Windows XP, Word 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Excel 2007, and Access 2007, and the internet using Internet Explorer.

The exam contains eight parts: Computer Concepts, Windows XP, Word 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Excel 2007 (2 parts), and Access 2007 (2 parts). In order to pass the exam you must receive at least 80% on each part of the exam.

If you are currently enrolled in or have previously taken the CIS 100 course, you may NOT take the CIS 100 Test Out Option

Students MUST register in advance. Please download and complete the form below (remember to select a date) and return it to our office with a check or money order for $50 made payable to the University of Louisville. Our mailing address for forms is: Testing Services, Davidson Hall Room 310, Louisville, KY 40292. In order to pay with a credit/debit card, you must come by our office personally. You MUST be pre-registered and have paid in full one week prior to the exam date to guarantee a reservation.

An admission ticket will be EMAILED to you the week before your scheduled exam. Therefore, you should supply us with a valid email address on your registration form. You must bring a photo ID to the testing session. Test fees are not refundable for any reason. If you are unable to attend on your scheduled date, you must call or write our office within six months of your payment in order to be rescheduled and an additional $20 rescheduling fee will be applied.

A student can take the complete test a maximum of twice at $50 each. You have the option to retake only those sections you did not pass at the next sceduled retest date. (The retest date will be sent with your score report.) Retesting fees for 1-4 exams is $30, for 5 or more exams it is $50.
