In fall 2013, the east first floor of the Student Activities
Center will begin renovations. When completed the
renovated east first floor of the Student Center will serve as a significant
meeting area for the University Community.
The renovation plan calls for the creation of meeting rooms,
lounge, prefunction area, information desk and fitness area.

Eight meeting rooms will be created that can accommodate
from groups ranging from 75 to 1,200 people.
Four meeting rooms are designed to accommodate 125 people each and can
be opened up to accommodate 500 people.
Four meeting rooms are designed to accommodate 300 people and can be
opened up to accommodate up to 1,200 people. Each meeting area will have
installed audio-visual equipment to provide proper support.


Adjourning prefunction space will allow for open area for
receptions, registrations and gathering areas before entering the meeting
rooms.

The lounge will provide space to study, meet, relax and hang
out for the University community.
The fitness area will provide a small area to work out and
will be equipped with treadmills, cable weights and cardio.
The Information Desk will greet the University community and
welcome visitors to the SAC.

Expected to be completed in fall 2014, the new east first
floor will support a variety of student organizations, student initiated
events, departmental events, academic conferences and community events.
The total project cost is $9.4 million. The renovation will be paid for by existing
Student Building Fee that was established in 1983 for maintenance, debt service and
renovation of the Student Activities Center (SAC).
