About Janice Covington

Janice Denise Covington was a 1986 graduate of the University of Louisville with a degree in Radiation Technology (AAS). She was a native of Auburn, KY in Logan County and an all-state basketball player in high school. She passed away in September 1996. Her family quickly established an endowed scholarship in her memory with the assistance of family, friends and colleagues in the medical profession. The scholarship provides support to students with financial need to participate in the university’s International Service Learning Program. Janice loved to travel and was active in the community; this scholarship was the perfect vehicle to honor her memory and her love for the University of Louisville. Her sister Connie Covington Shumake is an employee of UofL and has worked with the Division of Student Affairs to distribute scholarship funds.
