What is the timeline of the renovation?

The first phase will begin in June 2016 with the final phase expected to be completed in summer 2018.

How will this impact the student experience?

The SAC will remain open with areas closed while under construction.  Events, activities, food and bookstore will all be open throughout the construction.

How much is the renovation going to cost?

The total project budget is $39.1 million

How will the cost of the renovation be paid?

The renovation is being paid for through existing student building fee, unrestricted grants and University funds

Will there still be ATMs and will they be placed together?

Yes there will be ATM in the SAC

Will there still be a HigherOneCard machine?

No, the University has changed to another company to handle those functions

What will the food options be?

The renovation will enhanced/expanded dining services in the SAC. There will be a full service Chick-fil-a and Wendy’s, Papa John’s Pizza, Panda Express, a P.O.D.,  the MarketPlace, and Greens to Go. The new Legends 1911 will be a sit down restaurant featuring the Mark’s Feed Store menu. There will be a full service Starbucks on the East Side, connected to the campus store.

Will there be new hours?

At this time the hours of operation will remain the same:

Monday – Friday      6:30 am – 11:00 pm

Saturday – Sunday 10:00 am – 11:00 pm

Hours may be expanded to meet event needs as requested.

Will there be more rooms to hold events and/or meetings for student organizations?

There will be 12 rooms added that will be able to accommodate between 35 to 1,200 people.

Will there be open study lounges?

 

Yes, there will be student lounge spaces throughout the building.

How can space be reserved during renovation?

Reservations for space can be made by going to the web site http://louisville.edu/studentactivities/forms/reservation or coming to SAC W310 between 9 am to 5 pm, Monday – Friday.

Will the building be LEED certified after the renovation?

Will the old basketball courts be a reservable space?

The old basketball courts will be used for Health and Sport Sciences classes and for large events.  For open recreation, the Student Recreation Center has courts available.

 

When will the Multipurpose room be closed for renovations?

The Multipurpose Room will be closed for a short period of time.  The schedule is still being reviewed and once finalized will be posted on the renovation web site

 

Will there be more charging stations?

Yes, there will be charging stations and charging lockers in the building.

Will the theatre be renovated?

The Floyd Theater will be renovated.

What retail space will be in the new facility?

The renovation will enhanced/expanded dining services in the SAC. The east side will house the campus store and the west side will house will have a retail options.
