Essie Jenkins Torchbearer Scholarship Cover Letter

Dear U of L African-American Student in the College of Arts & Sciences:

Could you use a $400 Essie Jenkins Torchbearer Scholarship through the Torchbearer Program for the 2013 Spring semester? 

If so, please complete the enclosed application and return the completed application with two letters of recommendation attached to George Howe, Director of Special Projects and Development, at the Red Barn Programs Office which is located in the Red Barn to your left as you enter the hallway from the single door with the awning marked “Intersection” on the South side of the Red Barn on or before Monday, April 22, 2013, at 5pm.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have both a completed application and two letters of recommendation attached turned in by Monday, April 22, 2013, by 5pm.  PLEASE NOTE THE DEADLINE WILL NOT BE EXTENDED AND APPLICATIONS MUST BE TURNED IN BY 5PM AS INDICATED.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.  PLEASE MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR TO PERSONS WRITING RECOMMENDATION LETTERS FOR YOU.

If you are also applying for the Dennis C. Golden Torchbearer Scholarship, the Florence M. Strickler Red Barn Alumni Association (RBAA) Scholarships or the Bridgette Pregliasco Scholarship(s), you need to have two letters of recommendation for each of them also.  The same persons who gave you references for one of the scholarships could also give you references for the others scholarships, but you need to HAVE TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION ATTACHED TO EACH APPLICATION THAT YOU TURN IN.
