Student Involvement Internship Program

The connection of theory to practice is the core of the well-prepared young professional. By offering meaningful internship experiences, the Office of Student Involvement creates an important resource for our academic programs to use to recruit top students.

Options for credit AND not for credit

  • Assist with one event (assist staff who are responsible for a particular program, attend planning meetings, be responsible for tasks as well as attend event) Examples:
    • Homecoming Step Show
    • Alternative Service Break trip
    • Family Weekend
  • Shadow program/staff (observe and attend meetings, etc. to see how a program runs or what a particular staff does day to day)
  • Plan/Coordinate/Implement a project

Length of internship is negotiable to meet the needs of the student.

Semester available: Fall, Spring and/or Summer

Supervisors will:

  1. Develop learning outcomes
  2. Focus on competency development
  3. Provide work space
  4. Meet weekly with supervisee
  5. Provide strengths coaching
  6. Review resume

Functional Areas Of Student Involvement

  • Organization Advising: Student Organization Advisory Board, Fraternity and Sorority Life, ELSB, SAB, Alternative Service Break Board
  • Programming/Events: SAB, FSL, ELSB, Student Leadership and Service, ASBB
  • Assessment and/or Research
  • Student Travel: Alternative Service Break trips, International Service Learning Program
