Joni Knight Burke, Assistant Director of Student Activities/Greek Advisor
Joni oversees the programs and administration of advising campus fraternities and sororities. She is originally from Atlanta, GA and Chattanooga, TN. She earned a B.S. Degree in Education with a minor in Art from Middle Tennessee State University, and an M.Ed Degree in College Student Personnel Administration from the University of Louisville.
A long time advocate of Greek Life, Joni has served on the international boards of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and the National Panhellenic Conference. In 2005, Joni was the recipient of the NPC "Outstanding Panhellenic Advisor Award" for the United States and Canada.
Lauren Berman, Graduate Assistant, Greek Life
Lauren serves as a contact person for fraternity and sorority leaders to answer questions concerning policies and procedures, bulk mailing, and awards. She assists the Greek Advisor with the coordination of fraternity and sorority recruitment weeks, Greek Week, and other Greek-wide sponsored events. She also assists in the calculation of scholarship statistics and promotes new student involvement within the Greek system. In addition, she is in charge of publishing and updating the Master Greek Calendar as well as maintaining the Greek Life website.
Lauren was initiated into Alpha Gamma Delta at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Jewish Studies and Political Science, with a minor in History and Hebrew. She is currently a graduate student in the College of Education and Human Development at U of L and will receive a Master's Degree of Education in College Student Personnel in May 2010.
Brian Peeples, National Pan-Hellenic Council Advisor
Brian Peeples is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Kentucky State University in 1992 and a Master's Degree in Management Information Systems in 1994. He served as the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Advisor at KSU from 1994-1997, where they managed to raise the overall GPA to a 3.0 and overwhelm the community with their dedication to campus and community service.
Brian took over the NPHC Advisory position in August 2005 with a goal of uniting the Greeks affiliated with the NPHC under one common bond--service. He is dedicated to building the camaraderie with each other and establishing a bond with the National Panhellenic Council (NPC) and the Interfraternity Council (IFC) at the University of Louisville.
He is a systems analyst in the Registrar's Office at the University of Louisville. Brian is married to Angela Peeples, and has two children: Asia, 8 and Christian, 11 months.
