Greek Life

The Office of Greek Life at the University of Louisville oversees 26 chapters of national and international fraternities and sororities. The office assists fraternity and sorority chapters in maintaining local and national requirements as well as serves as a liaison between collegiate chapters, alumni, parents, and the university.

In addition, the staff provides educational programs and services that support the ideals of Greek Life by challenging members to live by their purpose, monitors academic performance of fraternity and sorority members, and recognizes positive achievements of the organizations.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Office of Greek Life is to be an advocate for fraternities and sororities within the University of Louisville administration and promote an understanding of members' rights and responsibilities as defined by University rules and regulations. The Office of Greek Life serves as a catalyst to encourage fraternity and sorority organizations to provide experiences that promote growth, development, friendship, and education of members.

Greek organizations provide an environment where:

  • scholastic achievements of the individual member and the chapter are highly valued
  • principles and ideals of rituals are reinforced daily and lived accordingly
  • safety of the individual and chapter is paramount
  • the fraternity and sorority experience is a quality enhancement to the undergraduate collegiate experience
