E0838 - Florence Strickler Endowment

Florence M. Strickler was the spouse of Dr. Woodrow Strickler, former U of L President who was responsible for establishing the Red Barn in 1969 with the help of students and staff. Mrs. Strickler, who became known as the “first lady” of the Red Barn, passed away in 2002. This endowment was established in 1992 and has provided 169 scholarships to U of L students totaling $25,220 since 1993. These awards include 2 Florence M. Strickler Scholarships awarded each semester which have grown from $250 per scholarship to $1,200 per scholarship, emergency awards, and a $50 award each to the Commuter Student Services (CSS) Outstanding Adult Learner Undergraduate and Graduate students.


G0461 - RBAA Gift Account

In 1998, the Red Barn Alumni Association began raising funds for the new Red Barn Endowment to ensure the financial well being of the Red Barn and to preserve the programmatic function that is the tradition of the Red Barn. Over $17,000 has been raised to date.


E0878 - Dennis C. Golden Torchbearer Endowment

This program fund was established in 1994 by Dr. Dennis Golden, former Vice President for Student Affairs at UofL. The endowment was established in 1996 and has provided 129 scholarships totaling $23,600 since 1996. These awards include the Essie Jenkins Torchbearer Scholarship and Dennis C. Golden Torchbearer scholarships awarded each semester which have grown from $250 per scholarship to $400 per scholarship, a $100 award to the Disabled Student of the Year Award for the past 11 years through the Disability Resource Center, and a $50 award each to the Commuter Student Services (CSS) Outstanding Adult Learner Undergraduate and Graduate students.


E0767 - Harold Adams Memorial Scholarship

Harold Adams was the first Assistant Vice President for Student Life at UofL. He passed away in 1986 after many years of service to UofL. This endowment was established in 1987 and has provided 581 scholarships to U of L students totaling $94,500 since 1988. These awards include scholarships to freshman students from Henry County, Straight from the Heart book awards, emergency awards and a $100 award to the Disabled Student of the Year Award for the past 8 years through the Disability Resource Center.


G1873 - George J Howe Student Leadership Fund

This is a new gift account established to raise funds for an endowment to recognize the contributions of George Howe, the first Director of Student Activities at UofL. The fund is intended to be used for Leadership Development activities, including student scholarships, speakers, travel, fund-raising, equipment and supplies that support the advancement of student leadership at UofL.


G1960 - Student Affairs Leadership Development Fund. 

This fund provides support for the numerous leadership and community engagement opportunities available for students through the Dean of Student's Office. Your contribution provides added resources for Freshman LEAD, Cardinal Leadership conference, Cards Lead Lecture Series, Alternative Breaks, as well as creating new initiatives to develop our students as strong leaders.
 

G2026 - Bridge Builder Fund for Student Leadership

The Schmeideler family created this scholarship fund to encourage and reward the development of student leaders that demonstrate a commitment to "caring more about others than they care about themselves". Application for this scholarship


G1157 - Denise Gifford International Service Learning Program Gift Fund

This fund was established to support student scholarships, program initiatives, travel, faculty engagement, and administration of an International Service Learning program.


G1937 - Tom Jackson Jr. Veteran Services Gift Fund

This fund was established to support scholarships, services, and programs for veterans at the University of Louisville.

 

G2165 - Ed Hammond Professional Development Fund

Ed Hammond was the first Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Louisville and served from 1976-1987. This fund is designed to support UofL graduate student pursuing a career in College Student Personnel or Higher Education

 

G2154 - Student Emergency Fund

The Student Emergency Fund is a joint venture between the Division of Student Affairs, Student Financial Aid, and University Advancement. The Fund assists University of Louisville students by providing immediate financial support when they need assistance with unexpected emergency expenses surrounding situations such as accidents, illness, death of a family member, fire damage or need for temporary housing. Students may apply for funds when they have exhausted all other resources.

This funding is not intended to replace or supplement existing financial aid and does not have to be repaid.

 

G2171 -  Habitat for Humanity

Fund set up to support the University of Louisville's effort to build a home through the  Habitat for Humanity program.

The 3 endowed programs have provided a total of 930 scholarships to University of Louisville students totaling $148,120. All scholarship awards are approved through the financial aid office.

100% of all contributions to these funds directly benefit University of Louisville students.
