 The Staff Senate has been working with Human Resources (HR) and the Vice President for Business Affairs (VPBA) to improve the grievance process, train the staff grievance committee members and staff grievance officer, and publicize the grievance policy over the past two years.  A working group of individuals representing the Staff Senate, the Commission on the Status of Women (COSW) and the Commission on Diversity and Racial Equality has been working with HR to improve the UofL grievance policy.  The review process is underway and the updated policy should be posted soon.  The current grievance policy is linked here, Human Resources grievance policy PER503 procedure

 Through our cooperative efforts, both Human Resources and the Staff Senate will be working to make the grievance process and policy easier to find on our web sites.  A printable brochure is under development and will be provided for those who do not always have computer access.

 Please note that while individuals in Human Resources are copied on grievances that are filed, HR staff do not typically rule on or participate in grievances.  The process is detailed in the policy.  Additionally, parties with a grievance may request mediation at any time, but both parties must agree to mediation.
