Welcome to the Southern Police Institute
The Southern Police Institute is a division of the Department of Justice Administration, College of Arts and Sciences, University of Louisville. It is an advanced education and training institute whose mission is to enhance the professional development of law enforcement practitioners. We accomplish this mission by providing educational and career development programs that are designed to challenge and to prepare law enforcement practitioners for the demands of today and tomorrow. The Southern Police Institute consistently is ranked among the top law enforcement educational and training schools in the nation.
Since the creation of the Southern Police Institute in 1951, its program of instruction has been grounded in the belief that law enforcement is a demanding activity requiring the highest level of professional preparation. The Southern Police Institute was established by its founders to provide a place where that preparation can be undertaken. The present faculty and staff dedicate themselves to this mission and continue to maintain the standards of excellence established by our founders. They are uniquely qualified as researchers, consultants, teachers, and former law enforcement practitioners to guide and to direct the educational needs of today's law enforcement professionals.

Twenty-three Lebanese police officers are headed home with memories, certificates, gifts, photos and shopping finds - but their most important souvenirs of a month at UofL will be the skills of community policing. Details in UofL Today article of Dec 4th.Announcement:
We are currently conducting an evaluation and review of the University of Louisville - Southern Police Institute Homicide Investigation Course to continue to improve this nationally recognized program. We are also trying to determine if this course needs to be broken into two separate classes; beginning and intermediate homicide investigations.
We receive a lot of interest in this course each year and several hundreds of law enforcement investigators have taken part of this class and we would like to keep this course on the front lines of homicide investigations.
To continue to improve this course an anonymous survey has been created to compile all of the valuable information from each of you. Please help us by taking a few minutes out of your busy days to answer this short eight question survey by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DN52FQJ
Thank you very much again for your time and service to your community!
