Who We Are

We Are UofL ImageThe University of Louisville has been here for more than 200 years. And in our university’s long history, we’ve celebrated triumphs and faced challenges, becoming a vital part of this community and a catalyst for better lives for countless people.

Our history and our accomplishments didn’t change with the news that has plagued us recently.

We are more than this.

We are the many and will not be collectively defined by the transgressions of the few. It’s time for us to take back our story.

We are 30,000 hard-working students, faculty and staff.

We are 130,000+ proud alumni.

We are countless UofL fans, friends and supporters.

We are resilient, and we’re not going anywhere. Watch us transform lives in ways large and small for the next 200+ years.

We define our future. This is who we are.

SACS Accreditation Update

I am delighted to inform you that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges has removed the University of Louisville’s probationary status, effective immediately.

In making its decision, SACSCOC noted the university’s extensive efforts to address the concerns raised in the past year in areas of finance, administration and governance. As we have stressed throughout this process, the quality of our academic programs was never under question. Our faculty continue to provide our students with an outstanding education, and a UofL degree continues to be valued.

Due to the probationary status, our regular SACS reaccreditation process was interrupted last December. That process will resume immediately, and SACS will conduct a site visit this spring. We are prepared for that visit and expect a positive outcome.

Greg Postel, M.D.
Interim President
