Who We Are

We Are UofL ImageThe University of Louisville has been here for more than 200 years. And in our university’s long history, we’ve celebrated triumphs and faced challenges, becoming a vital part of this community and a catalyst for better lives for countless people.

Our history and our accomplishments didn’t change with the news that has plagued us recently.

We are more than this.

We are the many and will not be collectively defined by the transgressions of the few. It’s time for us to take back our story.

We are 30,000 hard-working students, faculty and staff.

We are 130,000+ proud alumni.

We are countless UofL fans, friends and supporters.

We are resilient, and we’re not going anywhere. Watch us transform lives in ways large and small for the next 200+ years.

We define our future. This is who we are.

SACS Accreditation Update

The University of Louisville had a very successful site visit with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges Special Committee Sept. 19-21. The committee visited to follow up on nine Principles of Accreditation issues SACS had raised.

On Oct. 2, Dr. Provost shared the committee’s draft report, which shows that UofL has met or exceeded SACS requirements on seven of the nine issues -- and is well-positioned to correct the other two items. View draft report

He noted that the committee applauded the “extraordinary cooperation that the institution showed” during the visit, and that stated the university “currently operates with integrity.”

UofL will respond to the draft report before SACS’ early November deadline. The organization will determine our accreditation status at its annual meeting Dec. 2-5 in Dallas.
