Office of Public Health Practice (OPHP) establishes a presence in West Louisville

Office of Public Health Practice at Louisville Central Community Centers

In an effort to build closer connections with community members and organizations in West Louisville, the faculty and staff with the school’s Office of Public Health Practice (OPHP) have relocated to the Louisville Central Community Centers (LCCC) building at 1300 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., 40203.

OPHC hopes to build organizational and community capacity through partnerships in research, education, and service to foster environments in which all people have equal opportunity to be healthy.

The office serves as a resource for communities seeking to address issues that impact health status and a resource for UofL faculty, staff, and students to help cultivate and manage opportunities for the practice of community health development and related community based participatory research.

While the office will work on an array of initiatives at the national, state, and local level, it was developed with West Louisville in mind, to assist with addressing social and health disparities experienced by residents of the area.

SPHIS will celebrate this important move to LCCC with a celebration event at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 26. All faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to attend. Please save the date! For more information, please contact melissa.schreck@louisville.edu
