Tammi Thomas, SPHIS Student Services, receives 2008 Disability Awareness Award

With so much activity taking place in our school, it might be easy for a student's needs to fall through the cracks. But with Tammi Thomas, Assistant Director, Student Services, no one falls through the cracks. It is her remarkable commitment and advocacy that makes her a deserving recipient of the University’s 2007-2008 Disability Awareness Award. Ms. Thomas is a friend and ally to all students, but has repeatedly gone the extra mile for our students with disabilities. She demonstrates both tenacity and patience connecting students with key university services and in outlining the actions that faculty and staff must take to accommodate students with special needs.

Ms. Thomas was honored during the 13th Annual Disability Awareness Awards Luncheon on April 10, 2008, at the University Club. This awards ceremony, sponsored by the university’s Disability Resource Center, recognized those outstanding instructors, students, alumni, staff and others who demonstrate an interest in making programs, services and activities at the University of Louisville accessible to all.
