Student scholarships and awards
Congratulations to the following students for their hard work and accomplishments.
Sula Hood, a doctoral student in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences, was honored with a Signature Partnership Initiative Grant for Graduate Student (SPIGGS) from the Commission on Diversity and Racial Equality (CODRE) Student Grant Selection Committee. This funding will be used to conduct focus groups to determine the preferences of African Americans with type-2 diabetes regarding social support groups.
Roshanthi Pandian and Rebecca Richmond, MPH students, have been awarded Community Engagement Tuition Awards from the School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies for the 2010-11 academic year. These two students will receive tuition and stipends and will be working with Campus Health Services.
Trinidad Jackson, a recent MPH graduate, received support from UofL’s Roberson Scholarship Fund to offset the cost of his three-week health assessment trip to Ghana from May 18 to June 9.
