SPHIS student receives American College of Medical Physics Award

Michael D. Mills, Ph.D., MSPH, Associate Professor, Chief of Physics and doctoral student in the Department of Health Management and Systems Sciences, is the 2007 recipient of the Marvin M.D. Williams Professional Achievement Award of the American College of Medical Physics.  This Award is given annually to a medical physicist who has made significant contributions to the field of medical physics during his/her career.  These contributions include professional, scientific and educational achievements and service.  Dr. Mills is the nineteenth medical physicist to receive this award.

Dr. Mills has previously been honored by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine as the recipient of the R.J. Shalek Award for Significant Contributions to Medical Physics.  Dr. Mills served as Chairman of the Board of Chancellors of the American College of Medical Physics in 2005.  In addition, he is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Physics and a Fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.
