SPHIS receives funding for Milestones in Public Health grand round series
SPHIS has been awarded a $15,000 grant from Pfizer Inc. in support of a grand rounds series inspired by the publication, Milestones in Public Health, which describes eleven public health milestones in the 20th century. The goal of this effort is to provide current and relevant programs that enrich the MPH curriculum and enhance the immersion of students in the discipline.
Beginning in April 2007, these monthly sessions will be held at the school and target MPH students, public health practitioners and key healthcare partners throughout the Commonwealth. Presentations will be broadcast through the Kentucky Telehealth Network and the Kentucky Department for Public Health Videoconference Network. Using interactive videoconference technology, these networks connect local and district health departments and medical centers in Kentucky with the capacity to reach most of the Kentucky public health workforce. The monthly presentations will be recorded and provided in video format via the school’s website.
More information about this series will be made available in Spring 2008.
