The next SPHIS research incubation meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 3 PM in conference room 103. Dr. Scott LaJoie, assistant professor, Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences, will discuss two NIHS-funded projects related to mental health and pandemics. One project involves the development of best practice guidelines for ensuring the mental well-being of children and families who are quarantined or isolated during a pandemic. The other, which is slated to begin late fall, involves disaster mental health education and the development of a GIS-based decision support system to meet mental health surge demands during a pandemic.
