On Tuesday evening, April 8, SPHIS hosted a meeting to discuss the formation of SPHIS Alumni Council. Tiffany Cross, Katie Fisher and Jeremy Call, 2007 MPH graduates, were in attendance. After approving the Council’s Bylaws, the group elected the following officers:

·         Tiffany Cross – President

·         Katie Fisher - President-Elect

·         Jeremy Call - Secretary.

Many thanks to these individuals who will continue their outstanding involvement and leadership demonstrated as an MPH student.

The purpose of the Council is to enable school alumni to support and participate in the activities and programs of the School by:

·         Stimulating continuing interest among its alumni, and in the betterment of the school;

·         Assisting and encouraging the school in the recruitment and retention of outstanding students;

·         Furnishing an avenue through which its alumni may be kept informed as to the operation and progress of the school and through which the alumni may provide service and advice to the school administration;

·         Obtaining financial support from public and private sources for the school;

·         Promoting fellowship among alumni, students, faculty and friends of the school;

·         Enhancing public understanding of and appreciation for public health and its practices;

·         Furthering the general interests of the school and its alumni through social events, reunions, recognition of outstanding support for the school, and achievements of alumni and others associated with the school; and

·         Fostering and promoting the interests of the school and its alumni.
