Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plan study findings to be presented Sept. 29
David Tollerud, MD, MPH, Chair, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, will present findings from his study of health effects of occupational exposures for workers at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant on Sept. 29. Two meetings will be held: one for the general public; a second for PGDP workers with security clearance.
The study was the first to look at causes of death among PGDP workers. It was conducted by SPHIS faculty in collaboration with investigators from the University of Cincinnati, the University of Kentucky and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The study was funded through the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, thanks to the effort of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, who was instrumental in getting the study off the ground.
