Wu editor-in-chief for Open Access Medical Statistics
Dongfeng Wu, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, is currently the editor-in-chief for the Open Access Medical Statistics, an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal for original research, reports, reviews and commentaries on all areas of medical statistics. The journal is published by Dove Press. Dr. Wu has held this position since the journal started in March 2011.
Steiner presents at National Health Promotion Summit
On April 10, Rob Steiner, MD, PhD, Professor, Health Management and Systems Sciences, presented “Evaluating Impact of Smoke-Free Policies on Employee Healthcare Utilization” at the National Health Promotion Summit 2012 in Washington, DC. Dr. The results of this recent study showed that smoke-free policies that include mandatory worksite tobacco smoking bans can reduce healthcare utilization and expenditures among active employees by reducing hospitalization rates for AMI and HD. Project collaborators included Dongfeng Wu, PhD, Sheila Andersen, JD, MA, John Lewis, MD, MPH, John Morse, MBA, and Robert J. Esterhay, MD.
McCabe in Italy on Fullbright
Steve McCabe, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, recently completed a two-day workshop on research methods for graduate students in Udine in the northeast of Italy. He is currently in Siena Italy as the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship. Dr. McCabe relates that he is enjoying his international experience although he missed the excitement surrounding March madness.
