National Public Health Week Community Events
“This is Public Health” on College Campuses
Monday, April 7 & Tuesday, April 8
10 AM to 1 PM
- The goal of this is to improve awareness of public health careers and initiatives. SPHIS booths will display pictures of public health in our community and brochures about careers in public health. We will also use giveaways to encourage healthy habits among booth visitors such as drinking enough water daily and hand sanitizers. Be sure to stop by and see us on Monday, April 7 in the HSC Quad from 10 am – 1 pm and on Tuesday, April 8 on Belknap campus from 10 am to 1 pm.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame!
Tuesday, April 15 at 6 PM
University of Louisville, Patterson Stadium
- SPHIS will invite the middle school essay contest winners and NPHW faculty, staff and student volunteers to attend a University of Louisville baseball game on Tuesday, April 15. Students will receive their contest prizes, take pictures with the UofL mascot, the Cardinal Bird, and be recognized on the field. To encourage healthy habits, we will also be handing out hand sanitizers to the crowd.
Places of Worship and Public Health

- The goal of this activity is to bring awareness about climate change to community members. We will display examples of environmentally safe cleaning supplies and will also have copies of the “Healthy Climate Pledge Statement” for participants to sign.
Professional Athlete Youth Bike Clinic

- We are working with a local professional bike teams to develop a safety and fitness bike clinic. The goal of this activity is to encourage kids to become active and be safe. More information will be available soon.
