Influenza and Pandemic Planning – Friday, June 26

On Friday, June 26, Ruth Carrico, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor, Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences, will present “Influenza and Pandemic Planning” at 11 AM in conference room 103. This continuing education program will provide occupational health nurses and business professionals with an understanding of the transmission modes of influenza, the presentation of the virus, and how to plan and prepare for an influenza pandemic. Participants will review best practices in infectious disease prevention and containment in the workplace setting, which will include social distancing, environmental disinfection, recognition of infection and basic prevention. This program is being offered by the Center for Health Hazards Preparedness as part of the Pandemic Preparation for the Sentinel Health Care Workforce project. Funding is provided by the Kentucky Critical Infrastructure Protection Program, managed by The National Institute for Hometown Security for the US Department of Homeland Security.
