Muriel J. Harris, PhD, Associate Professor, Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences, presented the poster “Access to fruits and vegetables is not sufficient to ensure consumption” at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting on Oct. 29. Co-authors included Duke Appiah, MPH, CPH, SPHIS, and Sarojini Kanotra, PhD, MPH, Department for Public Health, Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. View the abstract.
Paul McKinney, MD, Professor and Associate Dean for Research, and Brandon Watson, a UofL medical resident and an MPH graduate, wrote about a dengue case seen at the VA hospital. “Dengue fever: An emerging threat for travelers in the Americas” is the lead article in the October 2012 issue of the Journal of the Kentucky Medical Association. Rob Steiner, MD, PhD, Professor, Health Management and Systems Science, became a lifetime member of Greater Louisville Medical Society (GLMS) in October 2012. He first became a member of this organization in about 1976. He was made a life member of the Kentucky Medical Association, Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians, and American Academy of Family Physicians in 2011.
Kira Taylor, PhD, Assistant Professor, Epidemiology and Population Health, will present the poster “Genome-Wide Association Scan of Osteoporotic Fracture: A Meta-Analysis of 10,014 African-American Women” at the American Society of Human Genetics Annual Conference scheduled Nov. 4—8 in San Francisco.
