Dr. Wilson publishes third edition of text on Drug Abuse Prevention
Richard Wilson, DHSc, MPH, Chair of the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences, recently published Drug Abuse Prevention: A School and Community Partnership, Third Edition. The book’s co-author, Cheryl Kolander, HSD, is a Professor and Associate Dean in UofL’s College of Education and Human Development. Using an evidence-based approach, this book teaches students and practitioners the important concepts and skills needed to design effective drug prevention programs. The text provides a background of drug use and abuse, presents the principles and skills of prevention, with particular focus on adolescents and school settings, and reinforces the importance of schools forming community partnerships with key institutions.
