Dr. Perez receives research funding
Adriana Perez, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, has recently received funding for three research projects.
She has been awarded a subcontract by the University of Texas at Houston to work on the parent grant "School Physical Activity and Nutrition (SPAN) IV," funded by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Dr. Perez will provide overall leadership and development of the sampling design, sampling selection, and sampling plan. This project is funded through 2009.
Dr. Perez has also received a subaward through Colciencias Colombia for the project "Asthma and Other Allergic Diseases in Colombia," funded by Fundacion Cardioinfantil. The primary aim of this project is to determine the prevalence of asthma, rhinitis and dermatitis in six cities in Colombia, South America. UofL and five organizations in Colombia are working together to achieve the primary goal. Dr. Perez will oversee and be responsible for developing, conducting and coordinating statistical aspects of the study, as well as writing reports and presentations. This international collaboration is scheduled to extend through 2011.
In addition, Dr. Perez has received a subaward from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth for the NIH-funded project "Beyond Sabor: A Border-Embedded Health Promotion," a health promotion intervention using a cluster randomization 2X2 design. She will provide overall leadership and development of the statistical analysis of the projects health promotion programs; supervise all data management and statistical aspects of the study. This project will conclude in 2013.
