SPHIS students and faculty receive awards at Research!Louisville
Thanks to all SPHIS faculty, staff and students who participated in Research!Louisville, which took place Oct. 20 - 24 on the HSC. We also want to recognize all of the SPHIS students and faculty who received awards in the poster competition.
The faculty award for Scientific Importance went to Qunwei Zhang, MD, MPH, PhD, Department Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, for the poster, “Activaction of Endothelial Cells After Exposure to Ambient Ultrafine Particles: The Role of NADPH Oxidase.” This is the second year Dr. Zhang has received this honor.

- - First Place: Nandita Das, “Home-based Telemonitoring With or Without Disease Management: Impact on Quality of Life and Self Efficacy in Patients with Heart Failure.”
- - Second Place: Bill Fell, “Optimization of Interventions for the Reduction of Morbidity and Mortality from Malaria in Children Under Five in Ghana.”
- - Third Place (tie): Dauod Dajini, “Genetic and Clinical Characteristics of Indeterminate Colitis.”
- - Third Place (tie): Adell Mendes, “Prevention of Lower Extremity Morbidity and Amputation by Peripheral Nerve Decompression in Diabetics.”
