Gray Street Farmers' Market

As part of its outreach program, the School of Public Health and Information Sciences (SPHIS) worked with community partners to launch the Gray Street Farmers’ Market. The goal of this new market is to increase access to fresh, locally grown food in the downtown area.

The Gray Street Farmers' Market will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday from June 4 through October 29, 2009. The market is located on the 400 block of E. Gray Street, between S. Preston and S. Jackson streets. Click here to get directions.

There are 23 vendors participating, offering lunch items, fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, cheese, honey, bakery items, canned goods, crafts and flowers.

SPHIS has established this market in partnership with the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, UofL Health Care, the Louisville Area Chapter of the Red Cross and Metro United Way. Other key collaborators include the Community Farm Alliance and the Louisville Farmers' Market Association. These organizations have representatives on the market governing committee, along with several of the participating vendors.
