About Us
The University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences (SPHIS) established the Commonwealth Institute of Kentucky (CIK) with a three-year $4 million investment from KentuckyOne Health. CIK serves as a transdisciplinary collaborative for population health improvement, policy and analytics, and it is in the process of building research infrastructure to support a variety of transdisciplinary projects that engage academic partners, clinical partners, and community partners in improving the health of the Commonwealth. Educational activities are expected to flow from the growing infrastructure with activities such as an expansion of health administration instruction, a community health worker training program, seminars on health targeted topics, and new academic tracks in comparative effectiveness research and health policy. The primary operations of the institute include community-based research, health policy support and education, and data warehousing and analytics. For more information about our institute and completed and ongoing projects, please refer to the CIK Annual report for fiscal year 2017.
