Ph.D. Sample Curriculum

Below are listed for example course plans for Ph.D. students, by emphasis and year of program entry. These examples take into account the current rotation of courses offered by the Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics.  Core requirements are listed in bold, concentration requirements are listed in italics, and all electives are listed in regular font. These example schedules are not intended to be rigid, as there is some flexibility in course scheduling. Any non-required elective can be replaced by any advisor-approved Ph.D.-level course.

Note that students are not required to take summer courses. The summer term is included for certain students, e.g. those on assistantships, that may be required to enroll in the summer. Further, note that the public health and epidemiology requirements are also not listed, and must be worked into these example course plans.
