NAME: Emissions.txt YEAR RECEIVED: 2003 SIZE: 13 variables, 300 observations COURTESY OF: Russ Barnett Kentucky Institute for Environmental and Sustainable Development Weather data from National Climatic Data Center REC'D ANALYSIS: Non-linear modeling, generalized estimating equations. NOTES: Data are from ambient monitors at three locations adjacent to an industrial plant. The measurements are ambient air qualities with respect to the emission butadiene-1,3. Of interest is whether or not the plant is significantly contributing to the air quality in the surrounding community through their emissions and an analysis of whether ambient air quality is impacted by temperature, precipitation, humidity, amount and strength of sunlight, geographic distance from plant, wind speed, wind direction, and amounts of air traffic. DATA NOTES: Data are tab delimited. VARIABLE TYPE CODE DESCRIPTION butadiene Numeric Ambient butadiene concetration (ppbv) date Numeric Date of observation. Formatted as dd-mmm-yy op Numeric 0 = shutdown Operational status of plant 1 = operational location Numeric 1 = Closest to Geographic location of plant observation site 2 = Medium 3 = Farthest from plant temp Numeric Temperature (degrees F) precip Numeric Precipitation (inches) humidity Numeric Percent relative humidity winddir Numeric Wind direction expressed as number of degrees from due north. Per NCDC, wind direction indicates where wind is coming from, so 0 degrees indicates wind from the north, to the south. windspeed Numeric Wind speed (mph) cloudcover Numeric Percent cloud cover airtraffic Numeric Count of number of aircraft taking off/landing at local international airport eval Numeric 0 = EPA Data collection agency 1 = UofL sunrise Numeric Time of sunrise (military) sunset Numeric Time of sunset (military)
