2004 Season
Baja West Competition
Oregon State University, Portland, OR
Car #62
Finished 17th place overall
New vehicle designed for the 2004 season. This vehicle sought to improve the driver ergonomic issues and the dangerous roll problems encountered during the 2003 season. The suspension was stiffened and further optimization of the driveline was performed to provide a car that scored well in both static and dynamic events. However, an internal problem was encountered with the driveline that knocked this vehicle out of contention in the endurance race.
Baja Midwest Competition
SAE, Dayton Section, Milwaukee, WI
Car #101
Finished 55th place overall
New vehicle designed for the 2004 season. This is the same vehicle that ran as car # 62 in the West competition. The vehicle had performed well in the static events, and was leading the first heat in the endurance race. However, the rack extensions on the steering rack failed during the final stage of the endurance race which put them out of this stage after only 18 laps.
Car #109
Finished 76th place overall
This is a redesign of the 2003 vehicle. The entire rear suspension and chassis was redesigned. The rear suspension was converted to a top link-H-arm geometry and the entire rear portion of the chassis was redesigned to eliminate unnecessary tubing. The suspension was appropriately stiffened to provide better suspension performance overall. This team also was up near the front of the pack in their heat in the endurance race when the rack extensions on the steering rack broke as well.
