What Is Mini Baja?

SAE Mini Baja is much more than just a race. It is an opportunity for students to be faced with the real challenges of engineering: sticking to a budget and a schedule, manufacturing a prototype, and correlating theory with practice. It is also an opportunity for students to interact with industry on the local and national level. Finally, it is an opportunity for students to interact with others of similar interest and transform this interest into an effective project team.

The rules have been established to ensure safety, they are not overly restrictive and remain flexible enough to promote creativity. As a result this competition draws a truly international roster of the best and brightest students from many disciplines. 1998 was the first year that the University of Louisville became involved in the competition.
