Patricia Soucy joined the Bioengineering department at University of Louisville in 2010 as a postdoctoral associate and then accepted an Assistant Professor position in the department in 2013. She received her B.S. in biomedical engineering from Saint Louis University and her PhD in biomedical engineering
from Johns Hopkins University in 2010.
Her teaching interests include courses in tissue engineering, biomaterials, drug delivery, and engineering physiology. She teaches courses to both the undergraduate and masters students in the bioengineering department.
The field of tissue engineering strives to provide a viable option for these patients by developing functional and healthy tissues to aid for those with disease or damaged tissue. The cells, material, and biological signals are critical components to success in this field. The research in the Soucy lab focuses on using both synthetic and natural biomaterials as mimics of the natural extracellular matrix to direct tissue regeneration and for drug delivery applications.
