Zurada awarded Honorary Professor title by Hungary's Obuda University

Dr. Jacek M. Zurada, recipient of Honorary Professor title by Obuda University

Dr. Jacek M. Zurada, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Speed, was awarded an Honorary Professor title by the Senate and the President of Obuda University in Budapest, Hungary. The ceremony was a part of the Academic Year Inauguration on September 1 in the Budapest Palace of Arts with the Senate and about 1700 freshman in attendance. With nearly 13,000 students and three doctoral schools, Obuda University is one of the leading technical universities in Hungary. Dr. Zurada also held an Inaugural Address on computational intelligence for John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics.

"I feel really honored to receive this international recognition," Dr. Zurada said. "As Honorary Professor I have standing invitation and the privilege to participate in the academic activities, functions and events of Obuda University."

The title of Honorary Professor at Obuda University is conferred in recognition of a person’s research contributions and academic activities. With 9,000 citations referring to his work, Dr. Zurada has been recognized for his pioneering and lifetime research accomplishments in computational intelligence and machine learning. The recognition was also for his distinguished professional service in IEEE publications, as an IEEE Society President, and as IEEE Vice-President for Technical Activities. Honorary Professors of Obuda University enjoy standing invitation to participate in the University academic activities and functions.

Zurada said although it is a personal distinction, he feels the recognition also raises the visibility of University of Louisville internationally.
