Photo Contest Winners Announced
St. Raphael 8th grader Sara Olshansky entered this photo titled "Red Flower" and won 1st place in the Garde 6-8 category of the photo contest.
Louisville Water Company and Metropolitan Sewer District teamed up with J.B. Speed School of Engineering for a digital photo contest for students held in conjunction with the Festival of Faiths events in Louisville.
This year's festival theme "Sacred Water: Sustaining Water" was a natural tie to bind LWC, MSD with the educational outreach efforts of Speed School.
"Water is a precious resource, not only for us, but for citizens of the globe," said Joe Hagerty, Speed School Professor of Civil Engineering.
Students grades 1 through 12 from either public or private schools in Jefferson, Oldham, Henry, Spencer, Bullitt, Hardin, Shelby, Nelson, and Meade Counties in Kentucky were invited to submit photos in one of three categories: Grades 1 - 5, Grades 6 - 8, or Grades 9 - 12, with the theme of "The power of water in our daily life."
All entries will be displayed during the Festival of Faiths program at the Henry Clay Building, 604 South Third Street, Louisville, KY, from November 5 through November 14, 2009. Prizes will be presented at a special event during the festival at a time to be announced.
