Dr. John S. Usher, Professor and Chair of Industrial Engineering, has accepted a a new position at the J.B. Speed School of Engineering as an Associate Dean. Dr. Neville Pinto announced the move on Friday, June 29, 2012 in an email to faculty and staff:

Dear Speed Faculty and Staff,

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John S. Usher as Associate Dean for Administration, Planning and Faculty Affairs of the J.B. Speed School of Engineering. As most of you know, Dr Usher has been a faculty member at the Speed School for almost 25 years. He has an outstanding record as an educator and researcher, and has served since 2005 as Chair of the Industrial Engineering Department. In successfully leading his academic department, John has demonstrated an energetic, imaginative, proactive and collegial leadership style. In his new position, John will have school-wide responsibility for planning, faculty and alumni affairs, business services, and information systems. His immediate focus will be on finalizing the School’s strategic plan and initiating its implementation.

John will move to his new position on August 6, 2012. He will continue to serve as Chair of Industrial Engineering until then, and in the transition period I will work with the Industrial Engineering faculty to identify a new Department Chair.

Please join me in congratulating John on his appointment and wishing him success.

Sincerely,

Neville G. Pinto

Dean, J.B. Speed School of Engineering
