Mini Baja Team does well in SAE Illinois competition
The Society of Automotive Engineers' Baja SAE Illinois competition was held June 8-11, 2011, at Caterpillar Inc.'s Demonstration and Learning Center in Edwards, Illinois. UofL's Mini Baja Team competed and finished 13th overall out of 115 cars. Event finishes included:
- 7th overall in Design (1 spot out of design finals - for the second year in a row!!!)
- 10th in Design Report
- 19th in Sales Presentation
- 59th in Cost
- 3rd in Acceleration (received a trophy!!)
- 11th in Maneuverability
- 22nd in Hill Climb
- 45th in Rock Crawl
- 14th in Endurance Race
The team experienced a few small mishaps occurred in the endurance race; otherwise they would have finished in the top ten overall, but that's racing...
