The M.S. Degree

The Masters of Science (M.S.) Degree is the traditional post-bachelors degree, awarded by the Graduate School. There are two options for the M.S. degree:

  • Thesis Option: This option requires a minimum of 24 graduate course credits and a minimum of 6 thesis credits (ME 690). At least half of the credits counted toward the degree must be completed at the 600 level. A maximum of 9 non-ME credits may be counted toward the degree. This option culminates with a thesis and a successful thesis defense.
  • Non-Thesis Option: This option requires a minimum of 30 graduate course credits. At least half of the credits counted toward the degree must be completed at the 600 level. A maximum of 9 non-ME credits may be counted toward the degree.
