Experimental Laboratory - SH 108

The Experimental Laboratory incorporates apparatus and instrumentation that support both undergraduate laboratory courses (ME 314, ME 315, ME 415), capstone design project activity, and advanced program research. Several innovative experiments in the areas of experimental stress analysis, heat transfer, materials testing, controls, and acoustics have been developed using this facility. Many of the courses taught here emphasize state-of-the-art digital data acquisition and signal processing techniques. Specialized equipment includes:
  • Tektronik digital oscilloscopes
  • PCB piezo-electric accelerometers
  • MTS tensile test machine
  • Bridgeport CNC milling machine
  • Boy 15S 15-ton injection molding machine
  • Three IBM assembly robots
  • SpanTech automated parts delivery system
  • GE MH33 material handling robot
  • Allen-Bradley programmable controller
  • Moorfeed automatic assembly system
  • Battenfeld 225-ton injection molding machine
  • FLEXIS manufacturing control system
  • Brown and Sharpe coordinate measuring machine
