The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Louisville invites applications and nominations for the Edward R. Clark Chair of Computer-Aided Engineering. Candidates must have a doctorate in an appropriate engineering or related discipline, and an international reputation in research and scholarship in state-of-the art manufacturing systems including computer controlled machining, rapid prototyping, and direct digital manufacturing. The candidate should also have a strong record in attracting research funding, a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, and proven leadership qualities. It is expected that the appointment will be made at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level.
The Edward R. Clark Chair of Computer-Aided Engineering was initially endowed by the James Graham Brown Foundation 20 years ago in the amount of $1 million and is now valued at about $1.4 million. The chair receives 5.5% of the fund corpus each year.
The Department of Industrial Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science, Master of Engineering, Master of Science, and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, and a Master of Engineering in Engineering Management. The Department has 10 faculty members, approximately 100 undergraduate students and 120 graduate students. The engineering school has a state-of-the art Rapid Prototyping Center, which houses a full range of equipment and software including selective laser sintering machines for both polymers and metals, five Haas machining centers, and a plastics injection molding machine. The facility also houses a variety of solid modeling and reverse engineering capabilities, and physical, mechanical, and chemical testing equipment.
