A Word from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) here at the University of Louisville!
I would like to encourage you to browse the website and learn more about many of the exciting things we have going on here. We offer a variety of degree programs as well as extensive research expertise in all areas of IE, with particular emphasis on logistics and supply chain management, operations research, ergonomics and advanced manufacturing.
Undergraduate students pursue out integrated Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degree programs, which are accredited by ABET. This five-year program is the only one of its kind in the country, and the only IE program in the State of Kentucky. The unique curriculum is combined with three mandatory semesters of paid cooperative internships. While out on co-op, students work full-time in a real engineering job for the entire semester, usually earning enough over the course of their three co-ops, to offset most of the cost of their college education. Our graduates earn both the BS and Meng degrees, as well as gain a solid year of industrial experience. As a result, companies around the country eagerly hire our exceptional graduates.
We are also extremely proud of our Master of Engineering in Engineering Management degree that we offer for working engineering, with classes in the evening. This program enables engineers from all different disciplines to pursue a Masters degree while they maintain their daytime engineering jobs. Students study and improve their engineering management skills, and then use those skills to advance their careers.
Finally, we offer the Master of Science and PhD degrees, for students who want to pursue a more dedicated research path. Graduates from these degree programs have obtained prestigious positions as engineering, researchers, and professors at outstanding institutions around the world.
So ... if you are interested in becoming an Industrial Engineer, then you can find no better place! Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or comments. Thanks for visiting the website.
