Speed School Awards

Department Alumni Award -  Dustin Banet

This cash award and certificate is presented by the Speed School Alumni Association  to outstanding Graduate/Professional students nominated by each department.

Society of Women Engineers Award -  Kristin Final

The SWE  award is presented to the student who has guided the student chapter most this year and helped the membership in the chapter expand. 

IE Department Awards

Thomas L. Ward Scholarship Award -  Gabriel Barron

This award is given annually to the senior industrial engineering student in the J. B. Speed School of Engineering who demonstrates the highest level of academic achievement.  This award is given in memory of Dr. Thomas L. Ward, former professor and department chair in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Louisville.

Institute of Industrial Engineers Activity Award – Mohammad Shaban

The Louisville Chapter 18 of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Activity Award is given annually to an industrial engineering student in the J. B. Speed School of Engineering who has contributed most to the activities of the University of Louisville Chapter 902 of the IIE.

Louis D. Brandeis Scholarship Award – Jeffrey Hickerson

The Louisville Chapter 18 of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Scholarship Award is given annually to the industrial engineering student in the J. B. Speed School of Engineering who has demonstrated both scholarly achievement and the promise of corresponding professional attainment.  It is given in memory of Louis D. Brandeis, a native of Louisville and an early champion of industrial engineering.

Society of Manufacturing Engineers Scholarship Award – Mark Kusnir

The Louisville Chapter 54 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Scholarship Award is given annually to the student in the J. B. Speed School of Engineering who has demonstrated, through scholarly achievement and research, the potential to make a significant contribution to the field of Manufacturing Engineering.

Industrial Engineering Graduate Student Award -  Kamran Moghaddam

This award is given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding research and scholarship in the Graduate Program in Industrial Engineering.

Industrial Engineering Doctoral Dissertation Award -  Dr. Banu Ekren

This award is given annually to the PhD student who is judged to have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the completion and defense of an Industrial Engineering doctoral dissertation.

American Society For Quality Scholarship Award-  Jeff O’Dell and Cissy Yang

The Louisville Section 912 of the American Society for Quality Scholarship award is given annually to the student in the J. B. Speed School of Engineering, who has demonstrated, through scholarly achievement and research, the potential to make a significant contribution to the field of Quality.
