Automated Text Evaluation for Instructors

Speaker : Prof. A. A. Pandit, VJTI, Mumbai, India

Abstract

Automated Text Evaluation was developed to evaluate subjective answers. We have attempted to use LSA / LSI (tokenization, stop word removal and stemming), SVD for identifying the important dimensions and also as dimensionality reduction technique. Based on the singular value decomposition a query vector projection was identified in the reduced dimension space. The cosine similarity was obtained between the query vector and each document vector.   Method was applied for the answers having a definite flow of information where the sequence in which the points appeared did not matter. The initial results are encouraging and has potential for many domains.
