On behalf of the ASCE/SAME Student Chapter here at the University of Louisville it is an honor and privilege to welcome you to our nationally recognized, award winning group. Over the past seventy years our chapter has evolved into one of the nation’s largest and most active student chapters. In four out of the past five years, UofL has received the Outstanding Student Chapter Award presented by the Kentucky Section of ASCE. In October 2009, the student chapter was officially chartered by the University of Louisville Student Government Association as a Recognized Student Organization (RSO).

The University of Louisville Student Chapter is associated with both the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). Membership is open to all engineering students currently enrolled at UofL interested in civil and environmental engineering and those seeking careers with the United States Military. The Executive Board of Officers is making diligent strides to “Revive a Chapter of Excellence” during the 2009-2010 academic year. Areas we are currently focusing on include: Membership Recruitment and Retention, Balancing the Chapter's Budget, Increasing the chapter's presence in Community Service Projects, Working with Local Schools on Math and Science Education, and participating in the 2010 National Student Steel Bridge Competition.

Recent News...

2010-2011 Officer Elections will be held Wednesday April 7, 2010 from 12:00 to 12:15 pm in WS Speed Hall 108. If you cannot attend, Absentee Voting will be available from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the CEE Department Conference Room in WS Speed Hall 101. Nominations must be sent in e-mail to President Brandon Shelley (mbshel02@louisville.edu) by 11:30 pm on Monday April 5, 2010. Nomination Requirements and the Duties and Responsibilities of Officers have been posted on the Elections page.

Steel Bridge Team will be meeting on Saturdays to complete work on the bridge. If you can help out, please contact Nick Judd (najudd01@louisville.edu), Lauren Mudd (lamudd01@louisville.edu), or Brandon Shelley (mbshel02@louisville.edu) to volunteer your time. We really appreciate it!! The Regional Competition is Saturday April 24, 2010 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. We will be needing some members to carpool over and cheer on the team!!!
