On behalf of the ASCE/SAME Student Chapter here at the University of Louisville it is an honor and privilege to welcome you to our nationally recognized, award winning group. Over the past seventy years our chapter has evolved into one of the nation’s largest and most active student chapters. In four out of the past five years, U of L has received the Outstanding Student Chapter Award presented by the Kentucky Section of ASCE. In October 2009, the student chapter was officially chartered by the University of Louisville Student Government Association as a Recognized Student Organization (RSO).
The University of Louisville Student Chapter is associated with both the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). Membership is open to all engineering students currently enrolled at U of L interested in civil and environmental engineering and those seeking careers with the United States Military. The Executive Board of Officers is making diligent strides towards “Building the Foundation for a Better Tomorrow” during the 2011-2012 academic year. Areas we are currently focusing on include: Membership Recruitment and Retention, Balancing the Chapter's Budget, Increasing the Chapter's presence in Community Service Projects, Working with Local Schools on Math and Science Education, and participating in the 2012 National Student Steel Bridge Competition.
I would like to take this time to introduce myself as well as express how much I am looking forward to working with my newly appointed executive board of officers to continue the tradition of this chapter. I hope to continue the success the chapter and to establish our chapter within our community as just more than a student organization. I have full confidence in my officers and our members that we will accomplish this goal as well as the many we have set for the upcoming year.

JUNE CHAPTER MEETING
The June Chapter Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 7th from 12:00 to 1:00 in WS Speed 108.
2011 National Student Steel Bridge Competition
