All J. B. Speed School of Engineering students enrolled in any classes are accessed a $25 technology fee for that given semester. There is no opt-out option as our primary license agreement with Microsoft requires licensing 100% of our students. The technology fee includes any undergraduate student, Masters of Engineering program students, or graduate student (MS, Phd, and post-doc) enrolled for one or more credit hours (including coop).
All software covered by the technology fee, except for operating system upgrades, is accessible for download. Downloads are free, but monitored and restricted to Speed School students only. Speed School students may purchase DVD copies of included software at an additional cost of $5.50 - $13.00, depending on the software. It is not required to purchase any DVDs unless you plan to upgrade the operating system (due to its size, the Windows 8 operating system is not available via download and is available only through a $13 DVD).
You may install the software on only one computer; the agreements do not cover installation on multiple computers. Do not download software on another computer or give your friends or relatives your DVDs to install on their computer. This is a direct violation of the user agreements and you could be held personally liable. All software products have some form of license keys and activations are tracked.
The Engineering Software Bundle is available to all Speed School students who have paid the technology fee. Software included in the bundle has been selected based on applications commonly needed by all Speed School students. Some departments may use additional software not included in the bundle - such software was not included since it would raise the technology fee for all. In such cases, the software is typically available for access in the departmental labs.
All software except the Windows Operating system is available via a free download.
For complete details on software, please visit iTech Xpress store. You will need your ulink user id and password to access.

All software except for the Windows 7 operating system upgrade is available via a free download. You will not need all software - download or purchase only what is needed. All software is for your personal use on a single computer - activations are tracked. Do not download/purchase DVD's for others nor disclose Product Keys.
DVD copies of the software are also available at iTechExpress. Prices range from $8 to $14.50 per DVD to cover media charges (each application is typically on a separate DVD). Copies may be picked up within 2 business days at the IT Xpress on campus. Software installed via DVD will generally require an additional software activation step - downloaded software is automatically activated.
