Fellowship Opportunities

Fellowship opportunities are available at the J. B. Speed School of Engineering for qualified applicants. Awards provide up to four (4) years of financial support.  The fellowship is for a stipend of $22,000 per year, plus full tuition remission and health insurance.  The fellowship is a one-year award from August 1 through June 30 and is renewable for one additional year beginning July 1^st.  The department will fund an assistantship at the same level for two additional years.  Applicants must have completed their master’s degree prior to beginning the doctoral program.

Fellowships are awarded, pending the availability of funds, to the most qualified new doctoral students. 

University Fellowships

The University of Louisville offers University Fellowships to applicants who meet the following minimum criteria.

• Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores of 60^th percentile in the Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing sections of the General Test.

• Undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher (using a 4.00 scale).
• Strong letters of recommendation and other evidence of scholarly ability.
• For international applicants, the TOEFL (80 IBT, 550 PBT, 213 CBT) or IELTS (6.5) is required.  

Grosscurth Fellowships

The J. B. Speed School of Engineering offers the Grosscurth Fellowship to applicants who meet the following minimum criteria.

• Combined Quantitative and Verbal Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of 305.
• Undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher (using a 4.00 scale).
• Strong letters of recommendation and other evidence of scholarly ability.
• For international applicants, the TOEFL (80 IBT, 550 PBT, 213 CBT) or IELTS (6.5) is required.  

The deadline for submitting all nomination materials is February 1st.
