Dean Neville G. Pinto
Dr. Neville G. Pinto was appointed the eighth dean of the J. B. Speed School of Engineering by the U of L Board of Trustees on June 9, 2011.
A member of the University of Cincinnati's engineering faculty since 1985, Pinto served as Vice Provost & Dean of the Graduate School from 2006 until August 2011, Interim Associate University Dean for Graduate Studies from 2005 to 2006, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies, College of Engineering from 2002 to 2006, and chemical engineering department chairman from 1993 to 1997.
In the early 1980s he earned his bachelor’s degree at Indian Institute of Technology (New Delhi, India) and master’s degree at The Pennsylvania State University where he also received his doctoral degree in 1985. He has been awarded 35 contracts and grants and has secured two patents.
During his tenure at the University of Cincinnati, he served on Governor Ted Strickland’s Higher Education Transition Leadership Team, 2006; Ohio Board of Regents Advisory Council on Graduate Education, 2006-2011; and State of Ohio Hazardous Waste Facility Board, 1993-2003.
Pinto was elected Fellow of the Graduate School University of Cincinnati, a lifetime appointment by Board of Trustees based on outstanding scholarly attainment, and was elected to National Academy of Inventors in 2010 in recognition of US patents awarded. He is a member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Society for Engineering Education, and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
He is married to Dr. Jennifer L Pinto. The couple has three children.
