BYLAWS COMMITTEES

Committee on Committees and Credentials
One faculty member from each academic department.  Members are elected by their respective departments two-year staggered terms.

Faculty Council
President-elect is elected for a two year term by Speed Faculty, serves as President-elect and Recording Secretary for one year, and then serves as President for one additional year. Other members are elected to two year staggered terms by the faculties of their respective departments.

Speed Student Academic Grievance Committee
Four faculty members, one of whom is elected chair, appointed by the Faculty Council for two-year staggered terms and three students selected by Student Council for one-year terms.

Promotion and Tenure Committee
Each academic department nominates two persons at or above the rank of Associate Professor with tenure.  The entire Speed voting faculty then elects one person to represent each constituency for three-year staggered terms.

STANDING COMMITTEES

Academic Integrity Review Committee (*)
The Dean or his/her representative. Three faculty members representing three different departments and nominated by the Committee on Committees and elected by the faculty for two-year staggered terms and three students selected by the Student Council for one-year terms. The Committee shall elect its own chairperson.

Academic Technology Committee
One faculty member from each academic department appointed by Faculty Council for two-year staggered terms, one graduate student member appointed by Student Council for a one-year term, and one staff member appointed by the Staff Council.

Assessment Committee
One faculty member (normally the department Chair or assessment coordinator) and one alternate (normally involved in assessment) from each department (one vote per department), Assoc. Dean for Academic Affairs (ex-officio), an administrative or other clerical as appointed by the Dean (non-voting). Department representatives and alternates are appointed by respective departments.

Cooperative Education Committee
All Directors of Cooperative Education, one as a voting member.  One faculty member from each academic department appointed by Faculty Council for two year staggered terms and one student who has completed three co-ops selected by Student Council for one-year term.

Curriculum Committee
One faculty member from each academic department selected by the department for two-year staggered terms and one person selected by the Dean for two-year term, and one student selected by Student Council for one-year term.

Diversity Committee
Four faculty members selected by the Faculty Council serving two-year staggered terms, no two members from the same academic department, the Director of Student Affairs, and two students selected by Student Council (one student at large and one student member of NSBE or SWE on a rotating-term basis).

Three faculty members selected by Speed faculty for three-year staggered terms.

Instruction and Learning Committee
Three faculty members elected by Faculty for two-year staggered terms and three student members selected by Student Council for one-year term.

Library Committee
One faculty member selected by each established department to serve two-year staggered terms, one student member appointed by Student Council to serve one year, and a Librarian will serve ex-officio as a nonvoting member.

Standards and Admissions Committee
Six faculty members serving two-year staggered terms, one representing the Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Services, the other five appointed by Faculty Council.  One 4th or 5th year student designated by the President of the Student Council to serve for one year.

University Faculty Senate
Nominations made at faculty meeting and members elected by mail ballot to three-year terms.

Nominations made by Speed faculty. Members serve two-year terms.

Members are appointed by the Dean or Research Dean of each school. Members serve three-year terms and may be invited to continue by the EVPR.

Nominations for SSOE representatives made by Faculty Council, elected by University faculty. Members serve three-year terms. SSoE has 2 representatives maximum.
